Automation Technician I/II is responsible for traveling to customer sites and completing repairs and installations in a safe and timely manner. This position will troubleshoot and diagnose basic robot movement providing top customer service to all clients of the Company. They will also perform light programming, software updates and assist with maintaining our preventative maintenance programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate and cultivate the Core Values of OSC internally and externally
- Safely perform automation repairs according to schedule while in high voltage areas
- Perform intermediate software programming, modifications and updates
- Estimate product implementation costs and obtain authorization prior to beginning work
- Install, repair and trouble shoot offsite robots or parts to ensure operating efficiently
- Support company sales goals in accordance with customer needs of automation
- Recommend process improvements and best practices to customers
- Communicate clearly to internal and external customers regarding the nature of any service or repair
- Aid in onsite preventative maintenance programs for ABB
- Maintain proper paperwork for all repairs
- Contact vendors to obtain repair items, components and information as needed
- Deliver new or rental items to customer sites as necessary
- Create invoices and submit requests to purchase parts according to customer needs
- Train clients on how to operate the automated machines and provide feedback/assistance as needed
- Participate/Collaborate in customer sales calls
- Increase knowledge of position through continuous education and training
- Attend weekly department L-10 meetings, bringing problems and solutions to increase efficiency
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform other job duties as assigned and fill in for other employees in their absence
- Occasional weekend work 1:1 time off scheduled with manager
Education, Experience and Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Associate’s degree or Certificate in electronics, manufacturing, automation, robotics or other applicable degree
- Valid Class D Driver’s License
- 2+ years of previous experience in electronic circuitry preferred, or combination of the listed education and experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills and basic customer service experience
- Must have high attention to detail and be organized
- Must have good reasoning skills, math aptitude and time management skills
Equipment Used:
- Forklift, two-wheel dollies, liquid cart, and overhead crane
- Office equipment and computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and ERP Software
- Various power and handheld tools, such as grinders, impact wrenches, drills, flow meters, amp clamps, engine compressors, electrical testing equipment, etc.
- Safety shoes and safety glasses required, gloves, hearing protection, and welding gear when applicable
Job Specifications/Requirements:
Ability to stand on your feet 3 to 4 hours a day with frequent walking, twisting, bending, reaching, grasping, sitting, and repetitive motions. Frequent lifting/carrying of 25-35lbs is required, may at times lift up to 75lbs. Frequent pushing/pulling of 75lbs. Ability to work in moderately warm or cold conditions where high noise levels are possible. Ability to travel 90% of their day for training and to customer sites to perform needed services and repairs

The annual salary range for this position is $65,000 annually - $100,000 annually. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity
